Why do I need Gig speed for my Internet connection?

How do I get Gig speed internet?
Gig internet is available to new and existing customers. Astound will provide equipment rental capable of delivering up to 1500 Mbps speeds.
Why does Gig Internet require a different modem or gateway?
This technology is the cutting edge of internet development. 1500 Mbps is so fast that it has surpassed the speed capabilities of the majority of today’s modems and routers. Older modems are not compatible with this service. Astound is providing every new 1500 Mbps customer with equipment rental that is capable of passing speed above 1 Gigabit speeds.
Can I bring my own modem/router with Gig Internet speeds?
Yes, customers can use their own modem/router with 1500 Mbps. Please refer to the recommended guidelines for equipment needed for speed tiers above 1000 Mbps.
Is Gig speed internet worth it?
Yes, Gig internet is worth it, if you use a large amount of bandwidth on a regular basis. It’s also worth it if you share your Wi-Fi with a bunch of family members or roommates.
