Sports Bill Credits FAQs
Due to the unique circumstances of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many professional sports were not played or broadcast. In response to this situation, we’ve been working with our Regional Sports Network (RSN) and other programming partners to secure refunds wherever possible. We intend to offer customers 100% of the refund that we receive as a courtesy adjustment. In June 2022, customers will begin to receive adjustments as we are passing through one-time credits that we receive from networks and programming partners, in the markets where a refund was provided to us. The courtesy adjustments will be applied automatically and customers will be notified via email and in their billing statements. Refunds will be provided only in markets where a refund was provided to us.
Will I receive a credit for live sports that were not available due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
We’ve been working with our programming partners to secure refunds for sports costs wherever possible. If a regional or sports network in your market refunds us, then we’ll pass 100% of what we receive onto customers as a courtesy one-time adjustment.
Who is eligible for a credit adjustment on their bill?
This courtesy one-time adjustment is available to customers in the markets where our programming partners have provided adjustments to Astound. You may be eligible if you are in a market where the regional or sports network costs are refunded to Astound.
How will I know if I am in a market where a refund is available?
We will be notifying customers via email and in their billing statements if they’re eligible for a refund for games missed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they are in a market where a refund was provided to Astound.
How much will the courtesy adjustment be?
The amount of the adjustment will vary depending upon the market, the applicable programming partner and the relevant adjustment period.
What about other sports or future credits?
We are committed to providing our customers adjustments of 100% of what we receive from our programming partners – now or in the future. We have received credits from some regional or sports networks, in certain markets, for MLB and/or NBA games not played during the pandemic. We are applying those credits to eligible customers in those markets now. If and when we receive adjustments from other programming partners for other sports or in additional markets, we will pass through 100% of what we receive to our customers.
Why am I getting a credit on my bill?
Astound is receiving rebates from several programming partners for providing a reduced number of live sporting events due to COVID-19. Astound is passing the rebates on to Astound customers as a one-time bill credit.
What is a Programming Partner or Regional Sports Network?
A Programming Partner or Regional Sports Network (RSN) is a cable TV channel that broadcasts professional and collegiate sports programming to a local market.
Where will the credit be on my bill?
Refunds will be provided only in markets where a refund was provided to us. If we received a refund for your market, the credit will appear in the One Time Charges & Adjustment section of the bill.
