Frequently Asked Questions

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a government program operated by the Federal Communications Commission that reduces one eligible household’s home and/or mobile broadband internet access service bill (home and/or mobile) by up to $30 per month. The ACP benefit is available only to eligible consumers that qualify for participation.

Eligible customers will receive up to $30 per month off home and/or mobile broadband internet services if qualified to participate. Qualified low-income households may apply the ACP benefit to any home and/or mobile broadband internet services available in your area, at the same terms available to households not eligible for ACP, or a household may transfer the ACP benefit to another provider or opt-out of the program at any time and without incurring a termination fee. The ACP benefit can only be used with one provider at a time. If the ACP ends, if you transfer your ACP benefit to another provider but continue to receive broadband internet service on one or more broadband internet plans, or if de-enrolled from the ACP, the full, undiscounted retail rate and general terms and conditions of service apply.

The ACP benefit is only available to one qualifying household. A household is any individual or group of individuals who live together at the same address and share income and expenses. If the ACP benefit does not completely cover the cost of your home and/or mobile internet services, you must make monthly payments to your ACP-supported broadband internet services. If you do not make payments due, your ACP-supported home and/or mobile broadband internet services will be disconnected after 90 consecutive days of non-payment.

Eligible households with active Astound internet service will receive up to $30 off internet service and equipment rental with the ACP discount, if you qualify.

A household may qualify based on income, or if enrolled in one of the following government assistance programs:

  • Free or Reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or Free or Reduced school breakfast through the School Breakfast Program
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Federal Public Housing (including Section 8, Multi-family units, and Public Housing Authorities)
  • Pell Grant recipient for current academic year
  • Tribal Programs (and proof of living on tribal lands) including:
    • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
    • Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
    • Head Start if income qualifying standard met
    • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Veterans Pension & Survivors Benefits
  • Proof income is 200% or less than federal poverty guidelines (three consecutive paystubs or a tax return). Note: You can look up the income maximum for your household at: https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/do-i-qualify/

No. Astound is among numerous broadband providers across the US who are part of the program.

After you’re approved for the Affordable Connectivity Program, a discount credit will be applied to your account for the ACP benefit. This discount credit will go towards your monthly internet service. If an eligible household receives services that contain both home and mobile internet services in the same month of service, the up to a $30 ACP credit will first be applied to your Astound home internet service (including equipment); if any portion of the ACP credit remains, then the remainder will be applied to your mobile data services, if applicable. An eligible ACP household is limited to only one up to $30 ACP credit regardless of the household’s number broadband internet service plans.

You can still take advantage of this program if you have a past due balance.

However, if you choose ACP-supported home and/or mobile internet services that require monthly payments and you do not make the monthly payments, your ACP-supported home and/or mobile internet services may be modified to a plan that is fully covered by the ACP benefit or may be disconnected after 90 consecutive days of non-payment. If an eligible household receives services that contain both home and mobile services that is supported by the ACP credit in the same month of service, after 90 consecutive days of non-payment, Astound may modify your Astound Broadband home internet services to a plan that is fully covered by the up to a $30 ACP credit and may disconnect your mobile services.

You’ll still receive one statement that includes all your services from Astound. Any services not covered under the Affordable Connectivity Program will need to be paid as they are today. The ACP discount will display on your statement monthly as a credit. You can view any remaining balance by visiting https://my.astound.com/.

Yes. The ACP does not require an agreement with Astound, there are no early termination fees, and you can disconnect at any time. You can also transfer your ACP benefit to another plan or provider at any time.

If the ACP benefit covers the full retail rate of your home and/or mobile internet services, you must use your internet services at least once every 30 days. If your ACP credit covers the full retail rate of both your home and mobile services, you must use both your home internet and mobile services separately at least once every 30 days. If you do not use internet services that are fully covered by the ACP benefit at least once every 30 days, we will provide you with notice and you will be required to confirm usage of the ACP-supported broadband internet services within 15 days to avoid termination of ACP-supported broadband internet services. Your account will receive the monthly credit from the ACP if your internet service is active.
