Astound Announces Successful Refinancing and Capital Infusion

July 2, 2025

Supports Continued Buildout of State-of-the-Art Fiber-Optic Infrastructure

Princeton, N.J.July 2, 2025 — Astound, a recognized leader in internet, Wi-Fi, mobile, TV and fiber-optic solutions, today announced the successful completion of a comprehensive refinancing and a commitment of $400 million from Stonepeak, Astound’s largest investor and the world’s largest independent infrastructure firm. The transaction also meaningfully extends Astound’s debt maturities to 2029 and 2030.

With this additional capital and financial flexibility, Astound will further build out its award-winning high-capacity, fiber-powered network while it continues to support its customers and communities. Under Stonepeak’s ownership, Astound has undertaken the fiberization of its network through the construction or upgrade of 800,000 homes. As part of its plan to further increase its fiber footprint across the U.S. over the coming years, Astound has identified more than one million new residential homes for construction of fiber broadband. Astound has already made strides in enhancing its offerings with continued investments in cutting-edge fiber infrastructure and collaborations with top industry players like T-Mobile, eero, and DIRECTV. Recent notable initiatives include Astound’s $22M project in Clallam County, WA, the completion of a 108-mile underground fiber route along Highway 6 in Tillamook, OR, Astound’s $34M investment in Orland Park, IL, and making significant upgrades across its entire existing network. This transaction will serve to support this momentum.

“We are confident that this transaction will provide meaningful benefits to our customers as, with the additional funding and our optimized capital structure, we will be able to enhance our services and continue strengthening our network,” said Jim Holanda, Chief Executive Officer of Astound. “Having access to reliable, high-speed internet is absolutely essential in today’s digital-first world, and we pride ourselves on doing everything we can to provide this to the communities we serve. We are grateful for the support we have received from Stonepeak and our lenders as we continue to grow and innovate for long-term success.”

“We continue to be impressed by Astound’s operational focus and commitment to providing the highest-quality services to its customers and communities. Leveraging our deep expertise in digital infrastructure, Stonepeak will continue to support Astound and we look forward to being a part of this next phase of the Company’s growth,” said Andrew Thomas, Senior Managing Director at Stonepeak.

Astound Announces $34 Million High-Speed Internet Project for Orland Park, Surrounding Areas

June 26, 2025

More than 19,000 homes and 4,000 businesses in fiber network’s footprint

Orland Park, IL  — June 26, 2025 — Astound, a recognized leader in internet, WiFi, mobile, TV and fiber-optic solutions, today announced that it has started work on a $34 million fiber optic network construction project to bring high-speed internet connectivity to residents and businesses in Orland Park and nearby areas. Once complete, the project will provide more than 19,000 homes and nearly 4,000 area businesses with access to Astound’s fiber network, delivering symmetrical speeds of up to five gigabits per second for residential and commercial use.

Starting this August, homes will begin to have access to Astound’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network, with more than 10,000 homes having access to the network by the end of 2025 and the full complement of 19,000 homes and 4,000 businesses by the end of 2026. Astound has begun building 285 miles of state-of-the-art fiber-optic infrastructure, extending its existing fiber network and high-speed services throughout the Orland Park community. With a team of approximately 50 working on the project, crews have already completed several miles of underground fiber construction. The project involves 100% underground construction, with active permitting processes continuing.

Astound engineered its fiber network expansion to power the fastest connectivity speeds Orland Park has seen to-date. Area households will be able to work, stream content, play games, and browse at lightning speeds with no slowdowns, supported by wall-to-wall WiFi 7 technology. Symmetrical speeds deliver equally fast uploads and downloads, especially advantageous for Orland Park’s remote workers who engage in video calls and content creation. Pristine 4K streaming enables anyone to watch their favorite shows in ultra-high definition, with little to no interruptions or pauses for loading. For gamers, the connectivity supports ultra-low latency, low-lag online experiences for smooth and responsive play. The network empowers households and businesses with multiple devices to all be connected at once – without compromising speed.

Orland Park will be Astound’s first 100% underground project in the Chicago market. This construction is entirely funded by Astound, with five geographic zones the company will build and complete sequentially. The project expands upon Astound’s investment in nearby Blue Island, which began in 2023. Total investment in the southwest Chicago suburbs, including Blue Island, Orland Park, and nearby areas is $58 million, bringing a total of 663 miles of fiber optic infrastructure.

“Orland Park is a vibrant community whose residents deserve access to the highest levels of reliable connectivity and support that Astound’s growing fiber network provides,” said Joe Bell, Astound VP and General Manager for Illinois and Indiana. “At the same time, we have deliberately engineered this project to be completely underground, reducing construction disruptions for the community and most importantly, providing the area with a fiber network that delivers an exceptional customer experience.”

“Astound’s fiber optic network is uniquely suited to provide the Orland Park area with a flexible and reliable platform that addresses rapidly evolving needs for businesses of all sizes,” said Patrick Knorr, Chief Commercial Officer for Astound Business Solutions. “Whether business or residential, Astound’s network is future-ready to address today’s demands as well as tomorrow’s opportunities.”

“Astound is making a significant investment in Orland Park to improve connectivity where we live, work, and play,” said Dan McMillan, President of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to their expanded presence in our community, as adding such a substantial base of fiber optic infrastructure stands to benefit our residents and businesses alike.”

Once construction is complete, Astound will maintain and operate the network. The company has provided a website for ongoing updates and information about the network build at www.astound.com/orlandpark.

Astound will staff a dedicated kiosk inside the Orland Square Mall on weekends in July, August, and September. The kiosk will be located on the upper level of the mall’s Center Court area.

Clallam County and Astound Announce $22 Million Project to Deliver High-Speed Fiber Internet to Rural Areas

May 14, 2025

Construction is now underway west of Port Angeles

Clallam County, WA — May 14, 2025 — Clallam County and Astound, a recognized leader in internet, mobile, and TV services, today announced a partnership to bring high-speed fiber internet connectivity to a large unserved and underserved rural area of the county that generally extends along and parallel to the approximately 15-mile State Route 112 Highway corridor, beginning just west of Port Angeles. Once complete, the project will provide more than 1,500 homes with access to Astound’s fiber-to-the-home network, delivering symmetrical speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second.

Over the next year, Astound will build approximately 100 miles of state-of-the-art fiber-optic infrastructure, extending its existing fiber network and high-speed services to the community of Joyce, as well as other areas of unincorporated Clallam County. Construction is already underway, with several miles of underground fiber completed. The project features both aerial and underground construction, with active permitting processes continuing. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2026.

This $22.2 million partnership is backed by a combination of funding sources:

    • $16 million from the Washington State Broadband Office via American Rescue Project Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds
    • $4.5 million from the Washington State Department of Commerce Public Works Board Broadband Program, including grants from the (ARPA) Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund
    • $1.7 million from Clallam County

The Public Utility District No. 1 of Clallam County (PUD) is another key project participant. Clallam County and the PUD entered an Interlocal Agreement for the PUD and their partner, NOANet, to provide the county project grant management and professional services. The PUD also supports the county with project management and coordination with Astound. Utilizing the PUD’s existing infrastructure (e.g., power poles) to support the high-speed fiber construction has contributed to project cost savings.

Using Astound’s backbone fiber infrastructure is critical to the success of the project, as the effort would otherwise exceed the available grant funding. Astound has also committed to project-managing the build over the next year, leveraging internal resources to help reduce overall costs.

The new fiber infrastructure is focused on enhancing connectivity for homes in the unserved and underserved areas, supporting both personal and professional needs. Area small businesses and crucial ‘anchor institutions’, such as fire houses, schools, libraries, and clinics, will also have access to high-speed internet once this project is completed.

“This is a key step in our efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural Clallam County. Reliable, high-speed internet is essential for education, healthcare access, business growth, and staying connected—no matter where you live,” said Clallam County Commissioner Mike French. “Once completed, this project will provide modern, scalable broadband infrastructure to residents and businesses alike, ensuring our region is better equipped for today’s digital demands and tomorrow’s opportunities.”

This partnership is the latest milestone in Clallam County’s broader effort to expand broadband infrastructure. The County’s initiative focuses on investing in long-term connectivity solutions by partnering with internet service providers to improve quality of life, support education, and enhance economic opportunities across the region.

“Residents of rural Clallam County deserve access to the same levels of reliable high-speed connectivity that more urban areas have come to expect,” said Jared Sonne, Astound senior vice president and general manager, West Region. “With both County and State support, we are addressing this by extending Astound’s robust fiber network infrastructure to bring vital high-speed connectivity for the first time to previously underserved areas.”

Once construction is complete, Astound and Clallam County have an agreement for Astound to maintain and operate the fiber optic communications network. The county is in the process of carrying out a similar agreement with the PUD related to joint use facilities to be constructed under the project along the SR 112 corridor.

Astound has provided a website for ongoing updates and information about the network build at www.astound.com/clallam.
