How to set up parental controls for TiVo®
Parental controls prevent certain stations or features from appearing on your television. Setting lock codes can help protect children from unsuitable material and give parents the option of determining what their children are exposed to.
This article will outline how parental controls work on TiVo® and outlines some of your options.
What are parental controls?
Parental Controls allow programming blocks by channel number, rating, or time period. There are two main types of PIN codes available for managing access to TiVo® features.
PIN types
- Locks PIN: used to restrict viewing to particular channels, ratings, or programming.
- Purchase PIN: restricts viewers from ordering anything that requires a purchase.
Tips for setting up parental locks on TiVo®
Settings vary by converter device. Step-by-step instructions for each can be found in Astound’s help portal. In the portal you can identify your converter’s user interface to find instructions specific to your equipment.
Through your TiVo® account you can set up a PIN code and turn on parental locks through your screen settings. Adjust the settings as needed and once activated, controls remain activated until updated again using your PIN.
Options you can set include:
- Select rating restrictions for any TV show or movie
- Hide adult VOD titles
- Lock specific channels
