HS Football Races Heating Up
As we start to wind down the high school football regular season schedule, the fight for playoff positioning heats up heading into week 10.
There were a number of competitive games last weekend, and a few upsets, but none bigger than Whitehall beating Parkland and now has an opportunity to capture the Lehigh County divisional championship for the first time in over a decade.
With Nazareth win over Northampton last weekend (one of the games you saw on a Astound TV), the Blue eagles capture the Northampton county divisional championship and head into the final week of the regular season fighting with his efforts for the top District XI 6A seed.
Another game on ATVN last weekend saw Bethlehem Catholic capture its first Christmas City football title in 13 years with its win over Liberty. The Golden Hawks are one of several strong teams in the District XI 4A classification this fall.
Southern Lehigh remained unbeaten and stays atop both the Colonial League and District XI 5A standings heading into week 10.
And in the 3A standings, both Northwestern and Notre Dame – Green Pond head into the final week with just one loss and both are heavily favored to win their games this weekend to finish the regular season.
There also have been a number of controversial stories so far this fall, including growing concerns about scheduling games with schools looking to move games away from playing on the traditional Friday night.
