{"id":89938,"date":"2025-05-15T22:36:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T22:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/?p=89938"},"modified":"2025-05-15T22:36:32","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T22:36:32","slug":"epc-baseball-championship-preview-25","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/epc-baseball-championship-preview-25\/","title":{"rendered":"EPC Baseball Championship Preview &#8217;25"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a very competitive regular season \u2013 with a few very talented teams NOT making the playoffs, just to show you how balanced the league was this year \u2013 the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship game is set, albeit now postponed twice already this week!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The top seeded Liberty Hurricanes will face the number-two seed, Parkland Trojans in the EPC title game, to be held Friday at Easton High School, first pitch: 4:30 p.m., (or whenever the weather cooperates this week.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After defeating Central Catholic 5-1 in the quarterfinals, Parkland edged a very strong Freedom team 2-1 in the semifinals Monday night.\u00a0 Veteran starting shortstop Will Dobil (who had three hits and the game winning RBI) and winning pitcher Sawyer Marsteller talked about the hard fought win and gave their thoughts on the team\u2019s determination heading into the championship\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>LV Baseball Notebook &#8217;25: Parkland Interviews<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/bCYtTid6jqM\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bCYtTid6jqM?si=88YL_hlTBgEm4rAG\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A few years ago Liberty strung together five straight mercy-rule wins en route to league and district championships, but this year they\u2019ve had to come-from-behind \u2013 TWICE by three runs in the final inning \u2013 to earn a trip to the title game.\u00a0 We featured several Liberty players\u2019 interviews on last week\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/sports-talk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ATVN SportsTalk<\/strong><\/a> program that was also streamed live for free on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AstoundTVNetwork\/featured\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>YouTube Channel<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While both teams are evenly matched offensively (Liberty has nearly identical team numbers compared to last year\u2019s championship team), Parkland has the pitching advantage this year.\u00a0 The Trojans\u2019 team ERA is nearly 2-full runs LESS than the Hurricanes.\u00a0 Also, Liberty\u2019s ace Michael Mariano Jr. (8-0, 2.31 ERA) \u201cmaxed out\u201d his pitch count, so depending when this game is played, he\u2019s unlikely to be available to pitch in the championship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We encourage everyone to head out to Easton HS to cheer on the kids to see the game in person, AND&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don&#8217;t forget to take <em>ATVN<\/em> with you<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AstoundTVNetwork\/streams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>watch on your phone or smart device<\/strong><\/a> to get multiple angle replays, in-game stats and more as the game unfolds!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The views expressed in this blog are<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Astound or any other agency, organization, employer or company.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a very competitive regular season \u2013 with a few very talented teams NOT making the playoffs, just to show you how balanced the league was this year \u2013 the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship game is set, albeit now postponed twice already this week!
