Last week here at \u201cThe Shop,\u201d we started our annual listings of outstanding individual accomplishments by student athletes in the RCN-TV viewing area, but highlighting the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> standout girls basketball performers from this past winter season.<\/p>\n

Today, it\u2019s the EPC boys turn as we spotlight them with the league\u2019s All-Star selections.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights are two firsts–at least, as far back as I can remember.<\/p>\n

First, we have \u201ctri-most valuable player awards\u201d given out.\u00a0 We frequently have seen ties in the voting, precipitating leagues to give out \u201cco-MVP\u201d honors, but I don\u2019t remember a three-way split between three different players in the same league–let alone three students within the same division AND county.<\/p>\n

Also, I don\u2019t ever recall any freshman from the EPC-18 ever garnishing first-team accolades.\u00a0 Nate Ellis from Allen High School<\/a><\/strong> got \u201csecond team\u201d honors two years ago but I haven\u2019t found anyone to disagree that Parkland\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> Nick Coval was the first ninth grader to capture that accomplishment in this league\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
