{"id":82455,"date":"2019-04-30T13:46:22","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T13:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"\/rcntv\/?p=82455"},"modified":"2023-04-13T15:06:37","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T15:06:37","slug":"tim-tebow-spring-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/tim-tebow-spring-sports\/","title":{"rendered":"Tim Tebow &#038; Spring Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The views expressed in this blog are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of RCN or any other agency, organization, employer or company.<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The RCN Sports Staff has been enjoying the high school spring sports action thus far!<\/p>\n<p>Through the season\u2019s first month we have covered every sport at least once (not always easily this time of year if Mother Nature doesn\u2019t cooperate) and we\u2019ve seen some very impressive performances from a number of student athletes from within the RCN coverage area.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s likely that the Lehigh Valley will be well-represented in the <a title=\"PIAA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.piaa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PIAA<\/a> track-and-field over the next few years. We\u2019ve interviewed a number of underclassmen who already have posted some outstanding times\/distances in their young high school careers and we should be seeing lots of goal at this summer\u2019s championships.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of young players, two of the hottest baseball teams in the <a title=\"Colonial League\" href=\"http:\/\/www.colonialleague.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colonial League<\/a> \u2014 <a title=\"Notre Dame High School\" href=\"https:\/\/ndcrusaders.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Notre Dame<\/a> and <a title=\"Palisades High School\" href=\"https:\/\/hs.palisd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palisades<\/a> \u2014 are winning with key contributions from freshmen and sophomores. What\u2019s more impressive than their on the field efforts is that when we\u2019ve spoken with them for \u201c<a title=\"RCN Sports Talk\" href=\"\/atvn\/sports-talk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SportsTalk<\/a>,\u201d they\u2019ve always been very complimentary of their coaches and the seniors on a roster.\u00a0 Talent is always great to have, but the more experienced teams usually find a way to win \u2026 and if these teams can continue to blend those qualities with a high baseball IQ, we should be seeing these teams quite a bit in the post-season.<\/li>\n<li>The girls softball season has been intriguing, with a number of teams looking great one moment, only to struggle for a stretch against squads you wouldn\u2019t expect them to lose to, then bounce back with another big victory. <a title=\"Northampton High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nasdschools.org\/nahs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northampton<\/a>, with a new coaching staff in place, has continued to be right at the top of my colleague <a title=\"Keith Groller\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KeithGroller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keith Groller\u2019s<\/a> <a title=\"The Morning Call\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mcall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cMorning Call\u201d<\/a> softball rankings all season long, and we\u2019ll be interviewing them for next Thursday\u2019s show.<\/li>\n<li>Another package coming up this Thursday\u2026<a title=\"Emmaus High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eastpennsd.org\/ehs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emmaus<\/a> and <a title=\"Southern Lehigh HS\" href=\"https:\/\/www.slsd.org\/Domain\/160\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southern Lehigh<\/a> high school\u2019s girls and boys lacrosse programs came together this past Saturday as part of a charity event to raise money for the <a title=\"American Cancer Society\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Cancer Society<\/a>. Our \u201cSportsTalk\u201d cameras were on-hand to cover that event, and we will have more details on both the game as well as the pre-game fundraising activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you missed our \u201cRCN SportsTalk\u201d features so far, you can see them through RCN On-Demand.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, there\u2019s a few weeks left of the scholastic spring sports season, so count on a few more local sports packages coming up in May for both our Pennsylvania and Washington DC markets!<\/p>\n<p>****<\/p>\n<p>A few weeks back we had a listing of some of the recent nominations to the last sports season\u2019s \u201cAll Star list\u201d and just recently received one additional set of awards &#8212; the completed list for the Colonial League\u2019s top wrestlers which we hope you will check out and acknowledge\u2026.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/atvn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Wrestling-All-League-2019.pdf\">Wrestling All-League 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thanks again to our local coaches, athletic directors and administrators to sending the student-athletes\u2019 names to our attention.<\/p>\n<p>****<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, this week\u2019s \u201cSportsTalk\u201d program will also feature an interview with <a title=\"Heisman Trophy winners\" href=\"https:\/\/www.heisman.com\/heisman-winners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heisman Trophy winner<\/a>\/Former <a title=\"Denver Broncos\" href=\"https:\/\/www.denverbroncos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Denver Broncos\u2019<\/a> starting Quarterback <a title=\"Tim Tebow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timtebow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Tebow<\/a>.\u00a0 In addition to funding a national charity organization and authoring seven books, Tebow stars on the reality\/game show \u201cMillion Dollar Mile,\u201d which was record this winter and is now airing on CBS.<\/p>\n<p>Tebow is attempting to reach the Major Leagues and is currently one level away from his goal of playing in the Major Leagues\u2014currently playing for the <a title=\"New York Mets\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/mets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Mets\u2019<\/a> Triple-A Affiliate.\u00a0 Tune in to hear Tim talk about his attempt to reach the \u201cBigs,\u201d\u00a0 what it feels like to be currently playing on a roster with a number for former <a title=\"Major League Baseball\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MLB<\/a> players on it, and several other issues.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The views expressed in this blog are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of RCN or any other agency, organization, employer or company.\u00a0 The RCN Sports Staff has been enjoying the high school spring sports action thus far!
