I don\u2019t know how you felt about it, but I absolutely loved watching NFL<\/a> football in the morning.\u00a0 The Eagles<\/a>\u2019 game on Sunday started at 9:30 AM.\u00a0 I ate breakfast before the game and was ready for lunch after the game.\u00a0 And\u2026 there was still the rest of the day.<\/p>\n

It also made me think how nice it would have been to actually watch Game Three of the World Series on Friday which ended at 2:30 AM.\u00a0 It was a great game no one saw.\u00a0 If they would have started the game at 4:00 EST, we might have lasted until the end.<\/p>\n

I remember when I vacationed in Hawaii and was able to watch golf tournaments to the very end and it was not time for \u201c60 Minutes<\/a>\u201d like it is back here.\u00a0 Heck, it was only 1:00 PM in the afternoon.\u00a0 The weekend was not yet over.\u00a0 The beach was waiting, there were still two meals on the horizon, and I had a happy wife.\u00a0 What could be better?<\/p>\n

So, here is what I am proposing for the NFL \u2013 play the 1:00 PM games at 9:00 AM; the 4:00 PM games at noon; and the 8:00 PM games at 4:00 PM.\u00a0 I am guessing that anyone who lives in Hawaii or California or nearby Pacific Standard Time states, for that matter, would rather be outside during the day anyway and they can DVR the games and watch them whenever the weather turns bad.\u00a0 You have it all already \u2013 a beautiful climate, nearby ocean and beaches, al fresco dining, etc. (AND YOU HAVE IT ALL YEAR ROUND).\u00a0 Let those of us in the East get some benefit out of our location by allowing us to get our sports out of the way so we can enjoy life.<\/p>\n

At least be willing to compromise during our winter months. \u00a0Cabin fever is real here in the East \u2013 \u201cextreme irritability and restlessness from living in isolation or a confined indoor area for a prolonged time\u201d.\u00a0 That malady creeps into my house, for sure.\u00a0 At least we have football, but what about the wives?\u00a0 They are forced to suffer extreme cabin fever \u2013 at times, it\u2019s almost epidemic \u2013 like when the Eagles are on a Super Bowl <\/a>run!<\/p>\n

Perhaps, the easiest thing to do is move all the NFL teams to England.\u00a0 Heck, the NFL wants to go global \u2013 do it!\u00a0 The crowd at Wembley <\/a>yesterday seemed no different than the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n

Okay, I have stopped making any sense at all!\u00a0 I could move, but I know the minute I did that, monsoons would hit Hawaii, wild fires would run rampant in California, and who knows what global warming is planning.<\/p>\n

At least I had the good life for one Sunday morning.\u00a0 Thanks, NFL, for creating a \u201cprime time\u201d I could really enjoy.<\/p>\n

ABOVE THE EARS (SOME MUSINGS)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. The Red Sox<\/a> did it! What an unusual series, especially the pitching rotation.\u00a0 Boston did not hesitate to use starters as relievers and David Price, a starter, did not care when he pitched.\u00a0 Manager Alex Corda looked like a genius throughout the season and certainly he looked even more so in the playoffs.\u00a0 Hats off to the Bosox!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. If you happen to be the coach of the Cleveland Browns<\/a>, be very wary of the second game of the season with the Steelers<\/a>. The last five Browns\u2019 head coaches \u2013 Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski, and Mike Pettine \u2013 were all fired after the second Steelers game of the season.\u00a0 And it happened again this week when Hue Jackson was fired after losing to the Steelers in the second game.\u00a0 The Steelers won this weekend 33-18.\u00a0 The Browns tied them earlier in the season.\u00a0 History, I guess, shows it\u2019s time to change coaches.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. It looks like the Sixers<\/a> will keep Philadelphia fans interested all year. The Flyers<\/a>\u00a0will not!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Penn State<\/a> would be one of the best teams in the nation if they didn\u2019t have to play the fourth quarter. They lost to both Ohio State<\/a> and Michigan State<\/a> when they had fourth-quarter leads.\u00a0 This week against Iowa<\/a>, they barely hung on in the fourth and came away a winner.\u00a0 They have now played four straight games decided by six points or less.\u00a0 The last time that happened was in 1894 (No, I didn\u2019t see those games).\u00a0 On to #5 Michigan.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. It\u2019s time for District<\/a> football. The AAAAAA bracket is wide open.\u00a0 #8 seed Liberty<\/a> just beat the #1 seed Freedom<\/a> this past Saturday.\u00a0 #2 seed Emmaus<\/a> takes on a #7 Nazareth<\/a> team who they beat on the last play of the game earlier in the season.\u00a0 RCN-TV Sports will have both those games on Friday night with the Freedom-Liberty game LIVE at 7:00 PM.\u00a0 On Saturday at 12:30 PM, we will see if Lafayette<\/a> can win their third game in a row when they take on Holy Cross<\/a>.\u00a0 The Bethlehem Catholic<\/a>–Blue Mountain<\/a> game will follow at 5:00 PM.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
