{"id":81440,"date":"2018-08-15T12:53:15","date_gmt":"2018-08-15T12:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"\/rcntv\/?p=81440"},"modified":"2023-04-14T19:02:19","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T19:02:19","slug":"hs-football-preview-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/hs-football-preview-1\/","title":{"rendered":"HS Football Preview #1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>The views expressed in this blog are<\/em> <em>those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of RCN or any other agency, organization, employer or company.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s just about that time of year\u2014when high school and college football games play \u201cmeaningful\u201d games (and the <a title=\"NFL\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL<\/a> isn\u2019t too far behind).\u00a0 Consequently, our RCN Sports team is getting geared up for our wall-to-wall coverage of scholastic pigskin action in the Lehigh Valley (plus interviews in the Philadelphia and Washington DC areas as well) on our upcoming \u201cSportsTalk\u201d programs.<\/p>\n<p>RCN Videographer Alyssa Sheckler and I have been out talking with local high school football coaches and players.\u00a0 Here are samples of some of our conversations so far:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yRQJjb1AloI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IJCFJWtP5wQ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WSLfgy1wUpU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jn67p3ZpvDo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nUdtKxEUp8U\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of the things that has impressed me the most so far this preseason is the fortitude of the <a title=\"Whitehall High School\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/prod\/whitehallcoplay.org\/whitehallhs\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whitehall<\/a> football team.\u00a0 They lost their head coach and their starting quarterback (due to transfer) this spring, but they\u2019re not using any excuses and still are setting the lofty goal of competing for an EPC title (they are still the favorites to win another <a title=\"District XI\" href=\"http:\/\/www.districtxi.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">District XI<\/a> 5A crown, although they\u2019ll have a little more competition this fall).<\/p>\n<p>They also graduated quite a bit of talent defensively and along their offensive line,\u00a0 but even with all these things working against them, the coaching staff and players have been working hard preparing for the upcoming season.\u00a0 Keep an eye on the Zephyrs as they will have several key match-ups this fall.<\/p>\n<p>We are busy editing these and collecting even more interviews this week, with many more to air on our Thursday show!<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to check out \u201cRCN SportsTalk\u201d the next few weeks on RCN-TV, On-Demand and our podcasts to get more interviews, insights and predictions for many of the fall sports programs this season.<\/p>\n<p>Also, next week here at \u201cThe Shop,\u201d we\u2019ll have the return of our \u201cPick 4\u201d predictions and high school football polls, featuring RCN announcers, local media members and special guest-coaches all making contributions each week!\u00a0 Make sure you bookmark our blog each week to check out where to find your favorite teams.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The views expressed in this blog are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of RCN or any other agency, organization, employer or company.
