{"id":81143,"date":"2018-05-07T17:35:01","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T17:35:01","guid":{"rendered":"\/rcntv\/?p=81143"},"modified":"2023-04-25T14:41:18","modified_gmt":"2023-04-25T14:41:18","slug":"spring-regular-season-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astound.com\/atvn\/spring-regular-season-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Regular Season Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>The \u00a0views expressed in this blog are<\/em> <em>those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of RCN or any other agency, organization, employer or company.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There have been some wonderful stories to follow for local sports fans so far this spring that we have covered on our &#8220;RCN SportsTalk&#8221; program.\u00a0 Here are just a few of the Lehigh Valley\u00a0highlights over the last two week&#8217;s worth of shows.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hnk0fGV8Ecs\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nOne of the area&#8217;s nicest and most skilled coaches took over the reins of the <a title=\"Northampton Area High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nasdschools.org\/nahs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northampton<\/a> boys volleyball team this spring.\u00a0 Sue Arndt has been a successful head coach at <a title=\"Emmaus High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eastpennsd.org\/ehs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emmaus<\/a> and <a title=\"Catasauqua High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cattysd.org\/Domain\/363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catasauqua<\/a> high schools, a local AAU program, and with an assistant at <a title=\"Dieruff High School\" href=\"https:\/\/drf.allentownsd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dieruff<\/a> when that program made a strong turnaround.<\/p>\n<p>The K-Kids have a strong core of now senior players who have had great scholastic careers.\u00a0 Now led by these 12th graders, the team has already posted some impressive wins this season.\u00a0 With their aggressive, take-no-prisoners style on and off the court, they are looking to be major players in the post-season.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PK_R0TaW3Pc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nSpeaking of volleyball, the <a title=\"Whitehall High School\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehallcoplay.org\/districtsite\/highschool.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Whitehall<\/a> squad has gone underrated, in my opinion, for the last couple of seasons.\u00a0 The Zephyrs were the 2017 runner-ups in both the <a title=\"EPC\" href=\"http:\/\/epc18.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EPC<\/a> and the <a title=\"District XI\" href=\"http:\/\/www.districtxi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">District XI <\/a>championship games, but didn&#8217;t receive much mention in the local\u00a0preseason previews.<\/p>\n<p>Like Northampton, Whitehall is playing well and is looking to take the next step in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7fsrDSGQjbc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nWe talked a few years ago\u00a0about the outstanding job <a title=\"Saucon Valley High School\" href=\"https:\/\/www.svpanthers.org\/Domain\/8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saucon Valley <\/a>has done turning around its girls lacrosse program.<\/p>\n<p>Now, defending District XI 2A champs seem determined to stay among the elite teams in the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n<p>We caught up with the Panthers, currently undefeated, following another win over a bigger, EPC school and they seemed determine to keep their squad playing at a high level.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZSvY0_c36Ck\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThe <a title=\"Easton Area High School\" href=\"http:\/\/eahs.eastonsd.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Easton<\/a> baseball team is once again having a fantastic season under head coach Carm LaDuca.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to posting yet another EPC victory last Saturday, the Red Rovers also took the opportunity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Easton team that advanced in the state playoffs, featuring both LaDuca and long-time assistant Greg Hess.<\/p>\n<p>The Rovers will see some tough competition in the Class 6A\u00a0district playoffs again in a few weeks, but another run in the <a title=\"PIAA\" href=\"https:\/\/www.piaa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PIAA<\/a> tournament should certainly not be ruled out for this year&#8217;s squad.<\/p>\n<p>With the playoffs upon us, there\u2019s just a few weeks left in the high school sports spring season.
