This week we have the second of three installments in looking back at some of the top players, teams, moments and events that made the 2016 sports calendar year so fun to cover for us here at RCN.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Vi2QlQlvR64\" width=\"425\" height=\"350\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the sports categories that come to mind when reflecting back on the last 12 months\u2014along with a few of my thoughts on each (we go into more detail on our special TV program\u2014see below for details)<\/p>\n<p><strong> Best Defensive Football Player in Eastern PA this fall<br \/>\n<\/strong> Jahan Worth. I hope you heard that show; you can check out that show\u2019s podcast here on the RCN-TV website if you\u2019d like proof<\/p>\n<p><strong> Most Intriguing HS Teams<\/strong><br \/>\nDieruff boys volleyball \/ CCHS girls volleyball<\/p>\n<p><strong> Best &amp; Worst Sports Decision Made in 2016 (any level)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Best \u2013 Emmaus hiring Harold Fairclough as their head football coach Worst \u2013 Just about every programming decision ESPN made this year<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nBest &amp; Worst \u201cProfessional\u201d Sports Story in Philly or DC<br \/>\n<\/strong> Best &#8211; Nationals making the playoffs and advancing to Game 5 in NLDS Worst \u2013 Caps losing in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round of the playoffs for 2<sup>nd<\/sup> straight year<\/p>\n<p><strong> Most Underrated Story (any level)<br \/>\n<\/strong> Successes of the Bangor baseball a and softball programs<\/p>\n<p><strong> A \u201cShout-out\u201d to one sports personality this year<br \/>\n<\/strong> Catty\u2019s Hanna Edwards (named one of the top 9 softball players in the entire country)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sports Personality You Would Have Liked to Have Seen More Of<br \/>\n<\/strong> Liberty\u2019s Carlo Perugini (overcame three ACL injuries to play in his first\u2014and last&#8211;varsity football game this past fall). Carlo graduates in the spring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Disappointing News of the Year (Any level)<br \/>\n<\/strong> Kyle Haas won\u2019t be coming back to Becahi<\/p>\n<p><strong>Something Witnessed That You Hope To See Again In 2017<br \/>\n<\/strong> Great support for Colonial League title games\u2026jammed packed McIntyre Gym for the Colonial League Basketball championship and a \u201cmore than half full\u201d BASD Stadium for Notre Dame\/Pen Argyl football championship<\/p>\n<p><strong>Something You Hope Doesn\u2019t Repeat Next Year<br \/>\n<\/strong> Anti-private school comments directed towards kids during games\/matches<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Performance By An Underclassman<br \/>\n<\/strong> Beca\u2019s Alec Huertas and Notre Dame\u2019s Mikey DeGaetano<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to check back for our next look-back installment of the top 2016 sports moments in the RCN viewing area, coming up in the next week here at the \u201cSportsTalk Shop.\u201d We are also presenting a special \u201cYear-in-Review\u201d show that is airing throughout this holiday season, in which we touch on even more of these great moments and special people in the Lehigh Valley, Delaware Valley and Washington DC\/DMV region from 2016.
