First of all, I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season.\u00a0 There were certainly lots of things\u2014sports related or not\u2014going on in the Eastern Pennsylvania area over the holidays.\u00a0 Among the surprises were some very impressive high school boys & girls basketball wins\u2014and upsets\u2014between Christmas & New Year\u2019s Day.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>With the new calendar year, it\u2019s customary to make \u201cNew Year\u2019s\u201d resolution. I usually try to make\u2014and stick to\u2014a few of them each year.\u00a0 Among them, related to \u201cRCN SportsTalk\u201d are the following goals I have set for myself as the producer of the program:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>To be a little more diverse in the planning\/scheduling of each \u201cSportsTalk\u201d show as we get deeper into the winter sports season.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>In the past, we would do shows during the winter sports season that were completely Basketball or Wrestling or even Super Bowl related. \u00a0I have had people come up to me at a basketball playoff game and ask \u201cwho\u2019s going to be on the show this Thursday?\u201d\u00a0 When I answer with names not normally associated with basketball, the viewer might say something like, \u201cwell, maybe I\u2019ll catch the show next week\u201d or \u201cwell, I\u2019ll give your trivia giveaway game a look, but I\u2019m not really into listening about wrestling.\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019m sure there\u2019s grappling fans that feel the same way about HS hoops.\u00a0 Therefore, as I plan some of the later shows for the winter season (closer to playoff time) I\u2019m going to try to include guests that have backgrounds in several different areas.\u00a0We can go in several different directions on some of our shows over the next few weeks\u2014especially when it gets to post-season time. This makes the show much more difficult for the host to prepare and to moderate, but no one cares about that guy, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

2<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>To consistently have a trivia contest winner<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In December, we had a record number of people guessing for our prize giveaways\u2014yet didn\u2019t have a winner during a few of our December shows.\u00a0 It certainly makes for a more entertaining program when lots of people make educated guesses and we allwait the whole show to see what the correct answer is. However, I have to try to mix things up a bit more so that we don\u2019t have too many people out in the cold (figuratively speaking, of course) when it comes to giving away an RCN On Demand certificate to watch the latest movie releases.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>D<\/strong>iscuss some different sports here in the month of January<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Before we get to the winter sports post-season I\u2019m looking to change things up a bit. \u00a0Among our theme shows & things to watch for this month include:<\/span><\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0 Central Catholic Football Team (the last team standing in the Lehigh Valley)<\/span><\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0 HS Wrestling Head Coaches<\/span><\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0 Basketball Coaches\/Teams<\/span><\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0 Local Media\/Winter Sports Updates<\/span><\/p>\n

+\u00a0\u00a0 More Giveaways & Local\/National sports conversations<\/span><\/p>\n
