As I offered up my sports highlights for 2012 last week, I decided to venture into the world of New Year\u2019s resolutions this week. \u00a0I couldn\u2019t think of anything worthwhile other than \u201cPlay more golf\u201d, so I decided to research the most common resolutions and see if\u00a0 I would be able to fulfill them.\u00a0 In no particular order, I found these:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Drink less alcohol.\u00a0 Check!\u00a0 No problem for me.\u00a0 I drink some red wine because I heard it is good for my health, but only in moderation and not very often.\u00a0 Oh \u2013 and I also have an occasional mixed drink. \u00a0That\u2019s it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0Eat healthy food.\u00a0 Impossible!\u00a0 If you travel from gym to gym and stadium to stadium, I defy you to find healthy food.\u00a0 By my count, I have devoured \u00a0approximately 8,000 hot dogs, 4,000 Diet Cokes, and 1,000 candy bars on the job.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 Get a better job.\u00a0 Unnecessary!\u00a0 If you exclude the eating problems (see #2), there is no better job.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 Get fit.\u00a0 See #2 (again).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lose weight.\u00a0 Ha!\u00a0 Have you seen #2?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Save money.\u00a0 I can do that.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

7.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Manage debt.\u00a0 Check!\u00a0 It\u2019s managed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Manage stress.\u00a0 I was fine until I started to think about #2!!\u00a0 Now I am hoping to live through 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

9.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Quit smoking.\u00a0 Can\u2019t.\u00a0 Never started.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

10.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Take a trip.\u00a0 If you insist.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Wow!\u00a0 My resolutions could all be resolved if I would just eliminate hot dogs!\u00a0 No hot dog \u2013 no need for the Diet Coke and no need to take a trip to the snack bar.\u00a0 Therefore, \u00a0no candy bars.\u00a0 I have four games this week so I\u2019ll get back to you on that NO hot dog thing!<\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Golfing in Hawaii should be wonderful.\u00a0 This past weekend, I saw rain and wind like I have never seen in a golf tournament.\u00a0 On Sunday, it was sunny, but so windy that the balls were blowing off the tees as the players were preparing to drive, and off the greens as the players were getting ready to putt.\u00a0 It was a strange way to start the season.\u00a0 So they didn\u2019t.\u00a0 Postponed everything until Monday.
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>5.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0I saw \u201cSilver Linings Playbook\u201d over the holidays.\u00a0 Terrific movie, although a few moviegoers laughed at some awkward moments (manic-depression is not funny).\u00a0 Robert DeNiro is great as an Eagles fan.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
