About the Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal government benefit program operated by the Federal Communications Commission that reduces one eligible household’s broadband internet access service bill by up to $30 per month. We offer a variety of internet packages with no contracts required and no early termination fees. Eligible customers may apply the ACP benefit to one of our current internet packages in their area, opt-out of the program or transfer the ACP benefit to another provider.

If the ACP ends, if the household transfers its ACP benefit to another provider but continues to receive broadband internet service, or if de-enrolled from the ACP, the full, undiscounted retail rate and general terms and conditions of service apply. Complaints about an ACP-supported service or about any difficulty enrolling in the ACP may be made to the FCC Consumer Complaint Center, Phone Number: 1-888-225-5322, Video phone number: 1-844-432-2275, Website address: https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a government program operated by the Federal Communications Commission that reduces one eligible household’s broadband internet access service bill by up to $30 per month. The ACP benefit is available only to eligible consumers that qualify for participation.

Eligible customers will receive up to $30 per month off broadband internet services if qualified to participate. Qualified low-income households may apply the ACP benefit to any broadband internet service plan available in the area, at the same terms available to households not eligible for ACP, or a household may transfer the ACP benefit to another provider or opt-out of the program at any time and without incurring a termination fee. The ACP benefit can only be used with one provider at a time. If the ACP ends, if you transfer your ACP benefit to another provider but continue to receive broadband internet service, or if de-enrolled from the ACP, the full, undiscounted retail rate and general terms and conditions of service apply.

The ACP benefit is only available to one qualifying household. A household is any individual or group of individuals who live together at the same address and share income and expenses. If the ACP benefit does not completely cover the cost of your internet plan, you must make monthly payments to your ACP-supported broadband internet service. If you do not make payments due, your ACP-supported broadband internet service will be disconnected after 90 consecutive days of non-payment.

Eligible households with active Astound internet service will receive up to $30 off internet service and equipment rental with the ACP discount, if you qualify.

A household may qualify based on income, or if enrolled in one of the following government assistance programs:

  • Free or Reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or Free or Reduced school breakfast through the School Breakfast Program
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Federal Public Housing (including Section 8, Multi-family units, and Public Housing Authorities)
  • Pell Grant recipient for current academic year
  • Tribal Programs (and proof of living on tribal lands) including:
    • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
    • Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
    • Head Start if income qualifying standard met
    • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

No. Astound is among numerous broadband providers across the US who are part of the program.

After you’re approved for the Affordable Connectivity Program, a discount credit will be applied to your account for the ACP benefit. This discount credit will go towards your monthly internet service.

You can still take advantage of this program if you have a past due balance.

However, if you choose an ACP-supported internet plan that requires monthly payments and you do not make the monthly payments, your ACP-supported broadband internet service may be modified to a plan that is fully covered by the ACP benefit or may be disconnected after 90 consecutive days of non-payment.

You will be asked to verify your identity and provide documentation for the program qualifications. Confirmation of identity may include using your residential home address and telephone number, mobile phone number, last four digits of your social security number, date of birth, driver’s license, state ID, or passport. Documentation will also be needed to confirm income or participation in an eligible government assistant program.

You’ll still receive one statement that includes all your services from Astound. Any services not covered under the Affordable Connectivity Program will need to be paid as they are today. The ACP discount will display on your statement monthly as a credit. You can view any remaining balance by visiting https://my.astound.com/.

Yes. The ACP does not require an agreement with Astound, there are no early termination fees, and you can disconnect at any time. You can also transfer your ACP benefit at any time.

Once your ACP status has been approved, our team will schedule your installation as soon as possible. For some customers this could be next day.

If the ACP benefit covers the full retail rate of your ACP-supported broadband internet service, you must use your internet at least once every 30 days. If you do not, we will provide you with notice and you will be required to confirm usage of the ACP-supported broadband internet service within 15 days to avoid termination of ACP-supported broadband internet service. Your account will receive the monthly credit from the ACP if your internet service is active.

Astound will require proof of eligibility. Taxes and fees extra. Standard terms and conditions of service and acceptable use policy apply. Discount credit only applies to the internet speed listed, standard modem/router and select fees that Astound assesses and retains. Any other services, equipment, taxes and fees that are not being supported through the Affordable Connectivity Program are not included. Even with the ACP discount, a monthly payment may be required, which will be reflected on your billing statements.
