Astound Email Help

Your Astound high-speed internet service comes with free email accounts, for your convenience. To set up your new email account, have it activated on the Astound server.

 

Once you have activated your email account with Astound, you'll need to set it up on your computer. Here is the information you will need to set up your email client software to receive and send emails using your Astound email address:

  • Display Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the email "From" field

  • Email Address: Your full email address
    (e.g. johndoe@astound.net or johndoe@myastound.net)

  • Account Name: First part of your email address, before the @ symbol (e.g. johndoe)

  • Password: Password created for this email address
  • For @astound.net email addresses:
    Incoming Mail Server (POP3) is mail.ca.astound.net

    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is smtp.ca.astound.net

  • For @myastound.net email addresses:
    Incoming Mail Server (POP3) is mail.myastound.net

    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is mail.myastound.net

 

Below, you will find detailed descriptions on how to set up your email program to access your new Astound email account. If you use an email program that is not on the list below, please consult the documentation from the application you're using.

Setting Up Your Email Address on Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express.

  2. Click Tools, then Accounts. Click on the Mail tab.

  3. Click the Add button and select Mail.

  4. Under Display Name, type whatever name you wish people to see when you send them email (it will appear in the "From" field next to the email address), and then select Next.

  5. Type in your full email address (e.g. johndoe@myastound.net) and click Next.

  6. Select POP3 server when prompted, then on the Incoming Mail line type your incoming mail server name as listed above. On the Outgoing Mail line, type your outgoing mail server name as listed above. Click Next.

  7. Your User Name is the first part of your email address, before the @ symbol.

  8. Type the Password associated with your email account and click Next.

  9. Click Finish.

Setting Up Your Email Address on Outlook 2007

  1. Open Outlook 2007.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

  3. Click New.

  4. Click POP3 and then click Next.

  5. In the Your Name box, type your name as you want it to appear to other people.

  6. In the Email Address box, type your full email address (e.g. johndoe@myastound.net).

  7. In the Password and Retype Password boxes, type the password that was either assigned to you, or that you selected for your email account.
    Tip: Your password might be case sensitive. Make sure that your CAPS LOCK key is not on.

  8. Click Next.

  9. After your account is configured successfully, click Finish.

Setting Up Your Email Address on Windows Mail

  1. Open Windows Mail.

  2. Look along the top toolbar and click on the Tools option. A drop down menu will now appear. From this click on the Accounts option.

  3. The Select Accounts Type window will now appear. Click on Email Account and then select Next.

  4. In the Display Name dialogue box type the name you want to use, for example "John Doe". Once you have done that, click the Next button.

  5. In the Email Address box, type your full email address (e.g. johndoe@myastound.net). Now click Next.

  6. In the Email Server Name window, choose POP3 for the server type, then type your Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server names as listed above. Once you have filled in these details then click Next.

  7. Here you need to fill in the User Name you use to log on to your email account. The username is the first part of your email address before the @ symbol (e.g. johndoe). After completing this section click the Next button.

  8. The final window to appear congratulates you on completing the details requested. All you need to do now is click the Finish button and your email account is ready to use.

Setting Up Your Email Address on Mac OS Mail

  1. Open Mail.

  2. Click on Mail, then Preferences.

  3. Click Add Account.

  4. Under the Account Information tab, and in the Account field select POP, in the Description field type Astound.

    In the Email Address field, type your full email address (e.g. johndoe@myastound.net).

    In the Full Name field, type whatever you wish people to see when you send them email (it will appear in the "From" field, next to the email address).

    In Incoming Mail Server field, type your incoming mail server name as listed above.

    Username should be the first part of your email address before the @ symbol (e.g. johndoe).

    In the Password field, please type the password for this email account.

  5. Click on the Outgoing Mail Server field and select Add Server. In the Outgoing Mail Server field in the new box, type your outgoing mail server name as listed above. Press OK.

  6. Click the Advanced tab.

  7. Make sure the box next to Remove copy from server after receiving message is checked. Click on the drop-down menu just below that and select Right Away. Click OK.

  8. Close out of the Accounts box.

Check your Astound email online anytime, anywhere. View any emails on Astound's mail servers, including new messages that have not yet been downloaded to your home or business computer. Just click on the link below that corresponds with your email address domain.
